My Thesis
Wed Jul 16, 2008 at 12:50:22 PM PDT
In last night's Tea Time, some of you expressed interest in my thesis. I have also received an occasional email from people interested in it as well. So I decided to learn how to do something new today...
ACLU prepares to take FISA to court
Wed Jul 09, 2008 at 08:03:26 PM PDT
The ACLU is preparing to take the FISA amendment to court once it is signed into law. They are going to be taking out a full page ad in "a major national newspaper." They want to include the names of tens of thousands Americans.
Let's Celebrate! (open thread)
Tue Jul 01, 2008 at 01:34:04 PM PDT
The Hubby is back from D.C., and the liver infection is gone again. He is now on oral antibiotics that are as close to the IV antibiotics as the doctors can get him. We are hoping that this time the infection will stay gone. I have fillet mignon to celebrate tonight and tomorrow we are going to see WALL-E. But I thought I would start the celebrating a little early. I know coffee hour will be up soon, but how about a cocktail before?
Another Atteberry update: Sightseeing
Thu Mar 20, 2008 at 02:36:51 PM PDT
Yes, I finally went sightseeing today. I went to the National Cathedral. It was gorgeous. I really enjoyed it. Although I was a little bummed: I didn't find the Dark Vadar gargoyle.
Atteberry Update from DC
Tue Mar 18, 2008 at 09:18:38 PM PDT
We are in D. C., and things are going very well. The infection, which is an abcess has been found and measured. It is a common thing in people who have the genetic disease he has to have recurring infections in the liver. The course of action right now is to do another course of antibiotics for 3-4 months and get the abcess as small as possible, and then go in and remove it. I really was hoping we would get away from surgery. But at least there night doing it now. If there were the abcess is quiet large, and would involve taking a section of liver next to it as well. We want to get it down to small wedge that doesn't effect the rest of the liver. So that is where we're at. The Hubby is back in the IV antibiotic and back on the pills he had also been on. He's feeling better. The pain is being managed, and he had a pretty good day today. It looks like we could go home Thursday or Friday.
Encountering the Divine
Tue Mar 11, 2008 at 12:12:46 PM PDT
I did a Kundalini Yoga Sa-Ta-Na-Ma meditation after praying. I felt like different people were saying different parts. I know I was saying the chant antiphonally. Bowed in Child's Pose thanking God for the time of prayer and meditation, I realized all the parts of who I am are here. Those voices were mine, and all of me is here. Nothing lost.
Coffee Hour
Fri Mar 07, 2008 at 03:28:52 PM PDT
Edit: Poli has Happy Hour up. Go forth and party.
I came over and noticed coffee hour wasn't up yet, and I could use a cup. Of course this time of the day it needs to be decaf, but I might be slipping a little Carolinas into it. It is Friday after all.
Insomniacs R Us
Tue Jan 15, 2008 at 11:08:24 PM PDT
Anybody else out there wide awake? I haven't been sleeping well for a month now. I saw my psychiatrist last week, and we increased my Clonzeapan, but it doesn't seem to be working. He told me to call him by the end of this week if it wasn't working, and we'd try something else.
I don't have cookies but I do have pumpkin molasses cake with chocolate chips, hot chocolate, or Carolina's Irish Creme and milk, if that is your preference. And tell me: what do you do in the wee hours when Mr. Sandman misses your bed.
Give Bush Impeachment not Immunity
Wed Oct 10, 2007 at 03:26:50 PM PDT
I just received an email from Democrats.com. Not only is the Congress not thinking about impeaching Bush, they are talking about giving him immunity for his illegal wiretaps. More after the fold:
Support Breastfeeding Moms
Mon Sep 03, 2007 at 06:45:50 PM PDT
The Feminist Peace Network has a great piece on actually letting mothers do what they're supposed to do: feed their children. I'm sure most of you know that breastfeeding is far healthier for infants than formula. But is the Department of Health and Human Services standing by this?
If you had the option to feed your baby a substance that is, "associated with fewer ear and gastrointestinal infections, as well as lower rates of diabetes, leukemia, obesity, asthma and sudden infant death syndrome", chances are you’d immediately start feeding it to your child. Well such a substance exists, always has. It’s called breastmilk. Why then did the Department of Health and Human Services bow to the formula industry and water down ads that promote breastfeeding. Oh wait, I know, it’s because donors to the Republican Party are much more important than infant health!
More on the flip.
I have an introduction (long)
Tue Aug 21, 2007 at 11:59:34 AM PDT
As some of you know I have been working on getting my series "Career Women of the Bible" into book proposal form. Here is the rough draft of the introduction. Please let me know what you think. The potential outline for the book is here, so you can get an overall view. The intro begins after the jump!
